Have you ever heard of the festival called Maleldo? This is the Filipino festival held every year. In Philippines, people reproduce the scene of the Crucifixion of Christ on the day called Easter Sunday — the day Christ was executed. This festival got famous around the world because this festival is too radical.

First, participants scratch their back with razors as the baptism. After that, the festival begins. They walk to the hill while they whip their body. People are actually nailed their hands and foots exactly the same as the Crucifixion of Christ.

It shows the Passion. They repent their sins and pray for their fortune by experiencing the same thing as Christ experienced.

Of course doctors are at the festival for safety. This extremely dangerous festival is popular in Philippines, so the journalists gather there. But the local church is criticizing this festival because it is too dangerous. The one Japanese had participated this dangerous festival few years ago. I want to see the festival on Philippines, but of course I don’t want to participate this festival.

I knew about this festival on “Crazy Journey”. This is a program broadcast by Tokyo Broadcasting System Television on every Thursday night. It shows many things and videos that we have never seen before. I recommend to watch the TV program.
